The rail network from the pictures look like difficult to make it work it's not easy to guess where signal should go with such layout. It would be easier to use 2 parralel tracks, and picture it as 2 lane of a road, where each lane is a one way lane that's usually what is described in tutorial to make things simple.

Today I downloaded the demo and the first 4 levels were great. Now I'm stuck at level 5 (the abandoned rail base). The task is to repair the base and I was able to figure out where all the assembling machines and laboratories should go by putting them right on their ruins.
