I can hold you if you are calm, but I cannot tolerate xyz”. I think boundaries are so important, for everyone but especially those with BPD.

In all fairness, I don't think I would have been diagnosed with BPD, but I do think I would have qualified for having qBPD. this means I was able to control my impulses internally a lot without having to externalize it to others. So this maybe different for your BPD gf, but I think that the basic mechanism maybe the same.
