I did a study on the pressings of Close to the Edge last year.* Here's my preferences: 1) Atlantic K50012 UK A1 B1 true first press (very rare) on substantially heavier vinyl. It has more clarity and punch than I ever expected. 2) MFSL mastered by Stan Ricker--Awesome black backgrounds and clean audio.For the poster that thinks the VM95ML is not that good they are using a $1.5k cartridge to compare the VM95ML. And, the boring sounding MP-110 does not compare. The VM95ML is an incredible performer for the dollars spent. It is perfect for medium mass tone arms.Compared to the old CD's, Greetings is the only one that was transferred from a different source, using the original first-generation tape instead of that EQ'ed dub used for everything before.
