To fix this I need to go to sound panel, configure, reconfirm the 5.1 settings and everything works fine again in FF14 (it works fine everywhere else regardless). Not all cut scenes are voiced. I know that but I played back all the old cut scenes which should have voices and they sound very far away and like an echo.If you're still getting music and voice audio, yeah don't bother restarting. In my case it has cut out in the middle of long voiced cutscenes, and I just couldn't tolerate it. Today I got 4-5 hours of gameplay in before it happened, but the queues haven't been kind to me.

I'm on Windows 10, and curiously I find that if I open my volume mixer after the audio cuts out that FFXIV's volume indicator appears as if there is a max volume sound constantly being played. Make sure all audio selected in windows is the correct item and you can even go into the audio sounds in windows to make sure the default playback and recording are the right line items.
