The forend on the Mav88 is a single-piece, while the 500 can be disassembled a little more. The 500 receiver is drilled and tapped for a Picatinny rail, the 88's receiver isn't. The Mav88 safety is a crossbolt one on the trigger guard, the 500's safety is a thumb operated tang safety on the top rear of the receiver.
