Yeah, drills at or above the surface are specifically coded not to pull any cloutium. You need to be at least 2 blocks below the surface (IIRC) for them to start pulling cloutium. Ideally you'll want to stick your T1 drills at 8 blocks below the surface (just above where the T2 dirt starts) to maximize your yield.The first filter receives 0 quality water, and takes damage at the highest rate, but the more filters are deployed along the line, the slower the rate. The last (5th) filter in the line will take damage VERY slowly. But as soon as you melt at least one new one will spawn somwhere. No timers no anything, its all up to your delivery speed and spawn luck.
