Add up all those charges and compare to what a new set of rods cost. For me it was cheaper to buy new rods then to try and rebuild the old ones. But yes the stock rods will take a lot more than 450 HP...I had a 400 with 5.7 stock rods in it years ago with lots of nitrous that made about 600 hp no rod problems. With proper hydraulic modifications during rebuild, about 750-800. Above that it needs a billet input shaft and forward hub. At 700+ HP I would upgrade to a 4 clutch intermediate and 6 clutch direct. Stock steels. 4L80E Hi Energy frictions. Use a good full manual VB or t-brake or if you desire automatic function study up on "dual feeding" and eliminating third gear cutback. Stock shafts will work, pretty much good attention to detail on the build.

I want that the TH350 shifts at 4000RPM, but because boost pressure is set on the vacuum modulator, the TH350 will shift at 5000-5500RPM. I now adjusted the kick down cable and placed a adjustable modulator and it shifts now at 4500RPM at 5.7 psi. The factory THM 350 transmission "generally" can take about 300 to 350 Lb/Ft. of torque max for the truck versions. Cars are a little less. In the 80 versions where they started using an electronic stall converter they don't hold up well at all.
