Ruger security 6 357 review.
Mar 4, 2012 · Hello all, New guy here. I got my first Ruger a few months back and well, let's just says it's never getting sold. It's a 1979 Security Six with 2.75" barrel in .357 mag. These things are built like tanks. I almost had an opportunity buy her sister in stainless steel but the deal fell through. Oh well, I'll keep my eye out for another.
Jan 15, 2015 · After coming back from Clark, the Security Six will still crack factory primers, has a 8.25 (ish) pound trigger, that sweet bobbed hammer, and best of all shoots groups like this: Give or take, that’s a 1.9 inch group at 20 yards with Hornady Critical Defense 115 grain JHP. I haven’t yet tested it with the 148 grain lead WC in the photos ... The Ruger Security Six has a long lasting place in my mind, it was the first magnum revolver I ever fired and probably what sent me on the path of firearms in general.The Ruger GP100 GP-141 38 Special +P/357 Magnum, $480, is the fourth 4-inch handgun in the test. The GP100 line was introduced in 1985 as a second generation of the Ruger double-action, exposed-hammer revolvers intended to replace Ruger’s Security-Six, Service-Six, and Speed-Six lines.Ruger wanted to compete in that space and introduced the Security Six in the 1970s. That one gun grew into a family of revolver models with names ending in “Six.”. The Security Six had a square butt and adjustable sights. Next came the Service Six which swapped the adjustable rear sight for a fixed rear sight cut into the top of the frame.Like a lot of .357 Magnums in this era, the original Security could handle them mostly fine, but it wore out considerably faster when it consumed a diet of nothing but .357 Magnums. I have a S&W 66 in 2 3/4" almost there. I had a 629 in 6" a long time back and traded it for a 4" to carry.My newest and already one of my favorites.
