On my WW2 97 trench gun (which is an early gun with WB marked stock and heat shield with 6 rows of cooling holes), the rear of the inlet is 3 3/8 inches from the end of the stock (not including the butt plate).I am having a problem getting a 1917 bayonet to mount on the replica 1897 heat shield lugs I ordered from Taylor LLC.
