Location. Ohio. Ram Year. 2017. Engine. Hemi 5.7. My 2017 with 37,*** miles on it is having “fuel level sensor” problems. Around half a tank, it’ll says fuel level sensor fail and read as an empty tank. One of the bosses I work with also has a 17 and 40,*** miles and his does the same exact thing.

Literally 1st night in truck decide to take the misses out. 86 miles in and I get fuel level sensor fail and gauge goes to empty. I could never find what the root cause actually was, just that people took it to the dealer and they fixed it. Well, I dropped the tank and found what the real problem is. Unfortunately, on your vehicle, the level sensor is built into and part of the Fuel Pump Sender Assembly, located inside the fuel tank. If/When the level sensor fails, the pump assembly as a whole will need to be replaced.
