Even if you could do the complete engine swap from the v6 for 10k that is 1/4 the price of a marked down SRT8. 12k sound right for a factory new 5.7 with mds and computer. Then another 4k for the tranny, unlikely that the rear axle is the same in the v6 vs. the 5.7 so there's another 2k.

The biggest differences between the early 5.7's and 6.1's is the exhaust manifolds and cat. back (larger on the 6.1), and there is no EGR or MDS on the 6.1.
