I like that the 500 is an American classic, comes with wood furniture, I have some experience repairing them, and they are simple and cheap to repair.

I did make the decision however to buy the mossberg 835 tactical turkey gun for a couple of reasons. 1 the two guys I hunt with are in law enforcement. They both told me that while the benelli is a fine weapon, the Mossberg, "can be thrown into the middle of the street, run over repeatedly picked up and then be relied upon to do its job."
