Players complain about a Katana, From nerfs that Katana just for the next one to get used more. moonveil just seems better. the moves come out quick and it's just as strong, if not stronger. unfortunate, because i just got the darkmoon greatsword and love the way it looks. was thinking about respeccing for it, but i can wield it two-handed without the repsec. still might play around with it more or use it for bosses weak to frost. The Moonveil is still much better than a lot weapons mentioned on pure INT builds. It has bleed build up and is available pretty early on and has reasonably low requirements. The vertical AoW still does good poise damage if you hit . The horizontal aoe is just a stronger short range Glintstone Arc cutting through multiple enemies.
It's one of those weapons that's a noob trap, imo. People get stuck on using the ranged attack as a crutch, while the actual katana moveset is extremely versatile and is, in tandem with the ranged attack, the key to being really skilled with it. In other words, it's a low skill floor, high skill ceiling weapon.

It's busted, the damage it deals and how fast it is for only 20 FP, all other sorcery is downright useless not to mention slow. With moonveil even if you run out of FP you're still in the game because you can powerstance it with another katana that does bleed. Oh yeah, haven't mentioned bleed.

Moonveil scales with INT, not Arcane... your build will perform better with the RoB although you can always respec. I am katana lover and I basically finished all souls games with katanas. Nagakiba has great damage, nice moveset and oh my god the reach on R2 wow. I enchanted mine with occult and Bloodhound Step and basically no other weapon was better.
