A quick look at Hodgdon's data shows a starting load with either powder and a 240gr bullet achieves 1,400 ft/sec. I would look at other powders for creating an 1,100 ft/sec load.

Problem I have for their data they are using Winchester cases trimmed to 1.28. These once fired Hornady cases are 1.257 to 1.26.I just picked up a 44 mag single shot Henry rifle for use in Michigan's old "shotgun" hunting zones. I was recommended to use the Hornady 225 grain FTX bullet. As I begin to develop a load for this rifle I checked the max OAL for the cartridge to seat a bullet to the lands, 1.912".
