I shot IDPA for several years and held my own in my class most of the time. Finally settled on 4.8-4.9 gr of 231 powder.

154 posts · Joined 2010. #8 · Dec 5, 2011. My 609 shoots low with 115 gr ball, pretty accurate with 124 gr ball. (using both WWB and federal) I carry the 124 gr speer gold dots (the P+ 1150 fps version, not the 1080) as a carry load. I purchased 2 boxes of the usual, and 2 boxes of the 147 gr.
The NATO ammo has given good performance in my 9mm pistols, revolvers and carbines, but not quite the accuracy achieved with the Federal 115 JHP. BTW, if that federal 9mm 124 fmj in the ballistics charts is the American Eagle, that 1180 FPS listed is much faster than chronographed results in my guns.

The CCI Blazer and Sellier & Bellot are the exact same price for 1,000 rounds. I've read where some people recommend NATO brand 124 grain ammo for compensated handguns. I'm pretty sure Sellier & Bellot is NATO brand ammo. Have any of you used Sellier & Bellot 124 grain or any other brand NATO ammo and , if so , what has been your experience.
I personally find that shooting 124 or 147 gr 9mm is easier on the hands than the 115 gr ammo. I believe it is due to the slower speed. As for the energy produced; it depends on the brand. I've found some brands where the 124 gr is producing more energy than the 115 gr version. Again, nothing earth shattering in the differences.
